Twelve days into the new year and we are all working like busy bees here in Fragrances! Next week our biggest trade show of the year - Showcase Ireland - is taking place in Dublin. We participate in this event every year where national and international buyers visit and where we exhibit our current product ranges along with those we are hoping to launch during the year. A great opportunity to show potential customers what we have been working on the previous year and what we have in the pipeline for the coming year.
Our new 'Sonas' Eau de Toilette is actually being launched at Showcase. Sonas is the Irish word for happiness - the name was chosen for this EDT as it was such a pleasure to create. This EDT is a wonderful unique blend of oils including natural oils of lavender, orange, basil, ylang ylang and balsam. We are currently awaiting delivery of sample vials for this fragrance so if anyone would like to try it out please send your details to

We will also be launching our new Inis Moonlight fragrance to the Irish market in April. A beautifully delicate eau de parfum, its watery accord gently blends with mandarin and peach, melting into a floral heart of rose and jasmine, Inis Moonlight has warmth and depth yet is wonderfully light, almost like a gossamer shawl. If anybody is interested in sampling this wonderful new fragrance also please feel free to email

We would like to wish all our loyal customers a very happy and prosperous New Year and hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas.
Our offices re-opened today after the Christmas break and the scene was a very different one to the one we left on December 23rd last. This time everything looks green again and colour prevails around, gone is the white curtain of snow covering everything and as far as the eye could see! Lets hope it stays that way because we have had our fair share of snowy weather this winter to last us a while. I don't think Irish people will be as eager in the future to dream of a white Christmas because this year we got just that - along with severe travel disruption, school closures, frozen pipes etc..etc. On the positive side though the whole countryside looked stunningly beautiful and many kids and adults alike made the most of the winter wonderland and enjoyed the hill sleighing and building of snowmen.
So now its back to work we go - and another year to commence. It is good to get the opportunity to make a fresh start and although we are always committed to bringing you the best in customer service and wonderful premium products we plan to push even further and go that extra mile this year to give you a bigger and better experience with Fragrances of Ireland.
Best wishes to everyone for 2011!!!

Our Christmas Warehouse Sale which was scheduled to take place late Nov/early Dec was rescheduled for last weekend 11th & 12th December and we experienced a steady stream of Christmas shoppers despite the weather conditions. As you know, for the past two weeks Kilmacanogue and Ireland in general has experienced heavy snowfalls and here in Fragrances we spent a lot of time shovelling away the snow to make way for our customers!!
Although beautiful to look at on the first day or two, it can become disruptive to everyday life and dangerous to pedestrians & drivers, so thankfully, it has more or less melted now but weather reports claim that by the end of the week Ireland could be under a blanket of snow, once again, for the third time this year. (first time was in February!!!) Who knows we may have that White Christmas yet that we all dream of.....
Take a look at some of the images below taken here at Fragances and in and around Kilmacanogue, to remind us of our recent Winter Wonderland.

Monday, 20th September...... |
|
Despite almost being one month into the Autumn season, Ireland is still experiencing some beautiful weather for this time of year. Blue skies & sunshine, (a little chillier in the mornings and evenings however!) all contribute to making the vivid autumnal colours of the countryside very easy on the eye and easy to appreciate before facing into the Winter ahead.
Here at Fragrances we are still busy working on new products. Our newest product, our Inis solid cologne - beautifully encased in a silver sea-shell compact, will be coming on-stream very shortly. This will also be available to buy via our website. We are putting the finishing touches to our Christmas gift sets too - hard to believe, that in no time at all, they will be out there on the shelves as well.
On a completely different subject - all of us here in Fragrances of Ireland would like to congratulate our local hero Katie Taylor who won her third lightweight women's World Boxing title in Barbados over the weekend. It is very inspiring to see an Irish person become a worldwide success in their field and even better to acknowledge that that person lives locally and right on our doorstep!! Well done Katie, fingers crossed that you will bring home to Ireland, the gold medal for Womens Boxing in the 2012 Olympics!!!!!

The 12th Annual International Architectural Exhibition is currently taking place in Venice, Italy. Since 1895, the Venice Biennale remains the leading showcase for contemporary art. It takes place once every two years and includes an international art exhibition, an architecture exhibition with exhibits from different countries including Ireland, and festivals of music, dance, and theater, as well as the Venice Film Festival.
I am sure you are wondering why Fragrances of Ireland could in any way be involved with the above but recently we were delighted to be asked by de Paor Architects, (an Irish firm, who had been invited by the Japanese Director of the Biennale to explore the theme 'People meet in Architecture' and create their own understanding of the theme) to supply some of our own lavender oil which they would use in their architectural exhibit for the show. De Paor built a folly of pleated linen and lavendered softwood, called '4am' and by using our lavender oil in their project created a wonderfully scented ambience for visitors to the exhibit. Our own MD, David had the pleasure of recently visiting the Show to see de Paor's creation first hand.
Take a look at the images below - It is quite difficult to capture the creation on camera but the entire exhibit is covered in white linen, and scented with lavender thus creating a calm, peaceful and contemporary ambience.

Whale Watch Ireland 2010.... |
|
The recent Whale Watch Ireland took place on August 22nd and, as Inis - energy of the sea cologne is one of the main sponsors for the event, we at Fragrances of Ireland were very interested to hear about the day.
Fortunately for the majority of the fifteen designated land-based whale watches the weather was glorious which added to the atmosphere of the day. The event now in its 9th year was attended by c 1,475 whale watchers and visitors alike, the main objective being to raise awareness of the 24 species of cetaceans (whales and dolphins) recorded in Irish waters, and to promote their conservation, by encouraging participation in the IWDG sightings and strandings schemes. Those attending at many of the sites were provided with "expert" interpretation by IWDG personnel who have vast experience regarding cetaceans, their ecology, biology and the conservation threats facing these marine mammals.
Harbour porpoise, bottlenose dolphin and common dolphins, and minke whale were spotted at different locations. The image above is one of three bottlenose dolphins who have been seen practically on a daily basis since 11th August last in the sea off Bray Head in County Wicklow. Also seen were 3 cetacean species at 1 site, 2 species at 2 sites, 1 species at 6 sites, and no sightings were recorded at 6 sites. All in all a very successful day for the IWDG and for those who attended! If you wish to learn more about these wonderful sea creatures log on to www.iwdg.ie for further information.
