At this time of year, Fragrances of Ireland celebrates the harvesting of lavender from their lavender field in Kilmacanogue, Co. Wicklow, with a lavender harvest party. This year was no exception!
Double Anniversary
On 4th July this year we had a very special Lavender Harvest Party – a bit more special than any other because this year we were celebrating two important anniversaries – the 10th Anniversary of our 'Inis – Energy of the Sea' cologne, and the 25th Anniversary of our company.
Weatherwise we were blessed! It is already on record for this summer being one of the wettest but luckily for us on 4th July we had blue skies and sunshine after suffering a previous week of torrential rainfall.
We decorated the field in purple balloons, marquees and banners and acquired the services of an old fashioned French wine van to complete the theme. Guests came and went throughout the afternoon. Attendance was steady and included local politicians, TV cameras and beauty editors from the press together with suppliers, customers and staff! With the Sugarloaf Mountain and our lavender field in bloom as a backdrop all were treated to a tasty Avoca lunch followed by strawberries and champagne while enjoying the subtle background music of Mario our Spanish guitarist.
Lavendar Distilling
Guests were also treated to a lavender distilling demonstration on site. Our lavender still is in situ in our
our new barn in the field and enthusiastic guests were shown how we extract the oil which is used in our products.
All in all it was a great day and a good opportunity to catch up with lots of people who have helped make the company what it is today! Let’s hope Fragrances of Ireland has another 25 years to look forward to!!!
